UTEP women’s golf opens C-USA Championship in sixth place

The UTEP women’s golf team is in sixth place after completing 18 holes at the 2019 Conference USA Championships on Monday afternoon.

The Miners shot 294 as a team on day one, putting them 12 strokes back of tournament leaders Old Dominion and UTSA (282). The tournament continues with 18 holes on Tuesday and 18 more on Wednesday.

Three Miners, Lily Downs, Crystal Wu and Valeria Mendizabal, shot a 1-over par 73 on Monday, leaving them tied for 20th overall. UTSA’s Ana Gonzalez, Madison Kidd and Old Dominion’s Sana Tufail all carded a 3-under par 69 to pace the field.

UTEP’s Audrey Haddad is tied for 32nd place (75). Taylor Stone is in 59th place (85).
