UTEP rolls past Northwestern State for first win over D-1 opponent


UTEP trounced Northwestern State 77-47 on Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center to record its first win over a Division 1 opponent under Rodney Terry.

Four Miners scored in double figures, led by Nigel Hawkins and Jordan Lathon who each recorded 16 points. Efe Odigie chipped in 14 points.

UTEP jumped out to a quick 10-1 lead in the opening minutes of the game, and never let up in the 30-point victory.

Next up for the Miners is a date with Marquette in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
