Monica Townsend took home the El Paso Women’s City Golf Championship on Saturday, beating the second-place finisher by seven strokes.
Townsend shot a 71 on day one and a 70 on day two, for a 2-round score of 141. Jodi Copley was the senior champion and Isabel Patacsil was the junior champion.
For Townsend, it’s her fourth city championship, but her first since 1988.
“I started playing in this tournament 30 years ago and I’m still here,” Townsend said. “I actually won it 30 years ago in 1986, 1987 and 1988. So it only took me 30 more years, so never give up.
