Another baseball season is just around the corner and the San Diego Padres are looking at another top ranked farm system in all of baseball. For the better part of the El Paso Chihuahuas existence, that has typically meant championship baseball at Southwest University Park.
“As an organization, it is nice to hear that, but we understand we are still working. We have to make them big leaguers. We understand where our lifeblood is going to come from. When you go out and acquire Manny Machado, a very special talent, same with Eric Hosmer and Ian Kinsler, but ultimately who we are will be decided by who those guys are on the backfields right now. We are excited about them. We are excited about our affiliates and the whole setup,“ Chihuahuas manager Edwin Rodriguez said.
The Padres will wrap up spring training a little bit later this month, while the Chihuahuas are going to stick around for a little extra work. Opening Day at Southwest University Park is Thursday, April 4.
