NMSU women’s golf now 1st at WAC Championships

The New Mexico State women’s golf team completed day two at the WAC Championship on Tuesday. The Aggies moved up two spots after the second round to take sole possession of first place with a team score of 606 (+46).


Four Aggies sit in the top-20 on the individual leaderboard. NM State play is led by Pun Chanachai who has posted totals of 76-70—146 (+2) and is now in a tie for first. Kristen Cline heads into the final round in a tie for eighth with scores of 77-75—152 (+8).


Vale Macias shot an even par-72 in the second round which moved the Aggie up to a tie for 14th after carding a 154 (+10) through 36 holes. Just behind Macias is NM State freshman Dominique Galloway who is in 17th place with a 74-81—155 (+11). Camille Orito completes the Aggie lineup in a tie for 32nd at 164 (+20).


Macias leads the field after firing five birdies through two rounds and Chanachai paces the 40-player field with 25 holes for par.


With the Aggies on the top of the leaderboard at 606 (+46), UMKC sits in second with a score of 613 (+53) and Seattle U is in third after carding a 615 (+55) heading into the final day of competition.


The final round of the WAC Championship begins tomorrow at 7 a.m. MT. Live scoring for the conference tournament can be followed on Golfstat.
