The New Mexico State softball team welcomes the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota to the NM State Softball Complex for a three game series this weekend. The Aggies face UND in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 4 p.m. MT. The series finale takes place on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Fans who can’t make it to the NM State Softball Complex for the weekend series can still catch all the games on television or through live streaming. The first contest of Saturday’s doubleheader can be viewed live on FOX Sports Arizona and FOX College Sports Pacific. The series finale on Sunday can be viewed on FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports Prime Ticket, FOX Sports San Diego, FOX Sports North, FOX Sports Southwest and FOX College Sports Pacific.
Kelsey Horton’s 452 total bases is the new the career record for New Mexico State softball. Her eight bases against Lehigh put her over the top, passing HokuNohara, US Bank NM State Athletics Hall of Famer, as the leader in the category.
The senior continues to climb in the career record books for other categories. The slugger sits in second for home runs (62) and sacrifice flies (11) while also ranking third for runs scored (180) and RBI (188). She also sits in fourth for hits (224) and doubles (40).
LAST TIME OUT
New Mexico State went 1-1 at UTEP in a midweek clash on Tuesday. The Aggies won the opening contest 12-4 in six innings but fell 11-3 in the second game. Kayla Green moved to 6-2 with the victory. The senior pitched 5.0 innings and struckout seven Miner batters. Kennedy Johnson and Nikki Butler also posted home runs in the rivalry win.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
North Dakota comes to the Land of Enchantment with a 15-17 overall record on the season. At the Seattle University Invitational last weekend, the Fighting Hawks went 2-2 splitting both games with Portland State and host SU. As a team, UND posts a 4.09 ERA while batting .256 with a .359 slugging percentage.
Leading the Hawks in the circle is Jannay Jones, who is 7-6 this season with a 2.05 ERA. She leads the squad with 82.0 innings pitched and 49 strikeouts. Angel Love comes in having started all 32 contests for North Dakota. The junior is batting .304 with 31 hits and 16 RBI. She also leads UND with a .451 slugging percentage and nine doubles.

Following the series with North Dakota, the Aggies begin Western Athletic Conference play with a three-game series at Seattle U. NM State takes on the Redhawks in a doubleheader on Friday, March 29, beginning at 5 p.m. The final game of the weekend is set for Saturday, March 30 at 3 p.m.
