NMSU star has a brother also playing in the NCAA Tournament

The New Mexico State men’s basketball team got on the floor for the first time Wednesday morning at the NCAA Tournament in Utah

NMSU is taking on Auburn in the first round and turns out, one of the Aggies has a pretty interesting story there at the big dance.

The Aggies and Chris Jans are looking to pull off the upset of the Tigers. One reason they think they can is tournament experience.

A guy with a lot of that is junior guard Shunn Buchanan. and he comes from a family with a lot of basketball pedigree. His older brother Shaq is a senior at Murray State, another team that is a 12-seed in the tournament.

Shunn and Shaq both play Thursday morning, Shunn in Salt Lake City and Shaq in Hartford, Conn.

They both think it’s pretty cool that they’re both dancing…and they talk a lot these days.

“It’s just a blessing for me to be here, but to have two people in the same household family, it’s a blessing,” said Shunn. ” I thank my mom for raising us the right way and preparing us to be here in this moment. This week we’ve been talking more than we ever have, just keeping up with each other and telling each other to enjoy the moment and leave everything out there on the court for our team and for our mom.”

Speak of their mother, she won’t be in Salt Lake City, but in Hartford to cheer on Shaq, since it is his senior year.
