Meet the Miners: UTEP Guard Tim Cameron

Today we introduce you to new UTEP men’s basketball guard Tim Cameron.  He’s from Georgia and is a 6’4 combo guard with solid defensive skills.

“His team won the national prep school title. I think he’s going to help us defensively immediately. We were not a great defensive club last year. We think that’s going to improve this year with the athleticism that we’ve signed on the perimeter,” said UTEP Head Coach Tim Floyd.

“If I have to go to the rim and finish, shoot a three here or there, but defensive wise, I am definitely there… I like to take pride in locking up my defender, whoever it is, probably the best guard on the floor, that’s who I want to guard,” said Cameron.

Cameron, a Rivals rated three star prospect, finished a post grad year at Hargrave Military Academy this season a year after he helped Norcross High School to a class 6A title.

Cameron is also looking to study mechanical engineering which could have been a major factor in his decision to choose UTEP.

He had offers from Houston, LA Tech, Ole Miss, and Tennessee and was offered by UTEP back in early September.
