In a life so short, running cross country makes it seem longer.

The Eastwood Troopers have run their fair share of miles this season to prepare for their first-place trophy from the UIL State Cross Country Championships.

The 5k race took place Saturday afternoon in Round Rock, Texas.

As a team, the Troopers scored 62 points, 25 points better than runner-up Austin Johnson High School.

Eastwood placed four runners in the Top 25; Sergio Cuartas (11th,15:29.82), Juan Olmos (12th, 15:33.69), Kayn Quinones (16th, 15:39.75) and Elias Perez (21st, 15:47.13).

This is the first state championship the Troopers have ever claimed.

The team will be back in action Nov. 17 for the NXR South Regional Championships in Bear Branch Park, Texas.
