A stellar career with the Crimson & White sees New Mexico State linebacker Terrill Hanks earn an invitation to the 2019 Reese’s Senior Bowl. The game featuring some of the nation’s premiere talent is set for January 26, at 12:30 p.m. MT in Mobile, Ala. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Following the invite head coach Doug Martin said, “We are all excited for Terrill and very proud of what he has accomplished here at New Mexico State. Terrill has worked hard in all areas to develop into an NFL player. This is two years in a row that NM State Football will be represented in the Senior Bowl and that shows what a great coaching staff we have here and the positive direction our program continues to move in.”
So far this season, Hanks has managed to record 79 tackles, good for fourth on the team, in just seven games. The strong-side linebacker has also added 6.0 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and an interception he returned 28 yards for a score against Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico.
For his career, the Miami, Fla. native has been instrumental since setting foot on campus his freshman season. The linebacker has compiled 41 career starts registering 374 tackles with over 100 in each of his last two seasons.
The invitation for Hanks marks the second year in a row an Aggie has gone to the Senior Bowl with Jaleel Scott earning the honor back in 2018. He also joins the ranks of five other NM State players receiving an invite to the Senior Bowl in program history, a list that features Jim Bohl (1967), Jim Germany (1975), Walt Williams (1977) and Andre Anderson (1978).
New Mexico State football is back in action with a road test next up against Brigham Young on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 8:15 p.m. MT inside of LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.
