Future Olympian: Cotchery Excels at Track

Sports

Tyson Cotchery is just eight years old, but has advanced and competed on the national stage.  Three weeks ago, Tyson finished 5th in the boys 800M at the USATF Junior Olympics in Sacramento.  “it’s fun for me…” said Tyson.

I bet!  Athletics run in the family.  His father, David, played football at UTEP, while a cousin, Jerricho Cotchery, played football in the NFL, but it wasn’t all fun and games in the beginning.

“The first year he struggled because we found out he has asthma… had to stop and take a puff of his inhaler… thanks to his sheer determination is why he’s where he’s at today,” said his mother, Eden. “I’m extremely proud, and if he keeps working hard, the sky’s the limit.”

Tyson added he sprinted all out in the final, and he’ll keep it up.  It’s his favorite sport, and added “it’s fun, all my friends are with me, and I like it.”
