Franklin star fighting for his life after car crash

James McClain Green is a fighter in every sense of the word. The two-time state wrestling champion is in a battle for his life after a car crash.

Those who know him best say if there’s anyone who can overcome this, it’s McClain Green.

He shines on the field and on the mat, but James McClain Green’s star extends to the hallways of Franklin High School.

“That’s just somebody you don’t forget,” said Franklin junior Daniel Castillo. “His energy is like no other. He will tell you things and just bring a smile to your face.”

The Cougars’ senior is in critical condition after a car accident Saturday night nearly robbed him of his life multiple times. He’s stabalized as of Sunday night after a pair of surgeries, but he’s not in the clear yet.

Franklin head coach Daren Walker told KTSM that McClain Green remains in the Cougars’ prayers.

“He’s a leader in and out of the classroom, on the field and off the field. Our hope is for the best outcome possible,” said Franklin Booster Club secretary Laura Escobar.

A two-sport standout, McClain Green has committed to wrestle at Old Dominion University next year. In the days and weeks to come, he’ll grapple with even more than that as he fights for his life.
