UTEP fullback Winston Dimel has accepted an invite to rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks. The former Miner taking to Twitter to announce his NFL future.

“Excited to announce that I’m heading to the Seattle Seahawks,” said Dimel in the post. “It’s been a crazy last three days, but I’m very thankful for the opportunity! Let’s get to work!”

Dimel started the first six games for the Miners in 2018. He had nine receptions for 89 yards, including a 33-yard reception against North Texas. However, his season was cut short after suffering a shoulder injury in the third quarter of that game.

Dimel, a graduate transfer from Kansas State, was a three-time All-Big 12 selection. He tallied 25 total touchdowns for the Wildcats before finishing his college career at UTEP.

Rookie minicamp in Seattle begins next month. Training camp will begin in July.

Dimel joins Nik Needham (Dolphins), David Lucero (Raiders), Kahani Smith (Seahawks), and Jerrod Brooks (Chiefs) as former UTEP players to get an opportunity with an NFL team.
