Centennial, Santa Teresa victorious in opening games of New Mexico baseball playoffs

Centennial and Santa Teresa each won their first games of the New Mexico baseball playoffs in resounding fashion on Thursday, with the Hawks shutting out Deming 10-0 and the Desert Warriors blanking Kirtland Central 6-0.

For Santa Teresa, Braden Gluth was electric on the mound as he threw a no-hitter and struck out 12 Broncos in the victory.

Centennial’s Wilson Bannister was almost as good, as he shut out Deming in the 10-0 win for the Hawks.

Santa Teresa will look to close out the best-of-three series on Friday morning at 10 a.m. Centennial will wait until Saturday at 10 a.m. to try to finish off Deming.
