The Bel Air boys soccer team defeated Burleson 3-1 on Friday afternoon in Wichita Falls to advance to the Class 5A Region 1 Finals against Lake Dallas.
The Highlanders led 2-0 at halftime and punched in another goal midway through the second half to seal the deal. Bel Air has outscored its opponents 15-1 in the postseason and is now 25-1 on the season. The Highlanders’ lone loss came back on Jan. 22 to Del Valle.
Bel Air and Lake Dallas will play at 10 a.m. Saturday morning with a spot in the 5A state tournament on the line.
In Class 4A, the defending-champion San Elizario boys are once again just one win away from the state tournament after topping Argyle 2-1 on Friday evening in Justin. Awaiting the Eagles in the Regional Championship is Stephenville, which took down Clint 3-1 in the other 4A boys semifinal.
San Elizario and Stephenville will get underway at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Justin. The Eagles will also look to enact a certain piece of revenge against Stephenville, after the Yellow Jacket girls dominated the San Eli girls 8-1 in the Regional Semifinals on Friday morning.
