The Bel Air boys soccer team is back in the Regional Semifinals of the UIL State Playoffs. The Highlanders have cruised to three playoff wins, outscoring their opponents 12-0 in the process. Now their attention is on Friday’s matchup in Wichita Falls against Burleson.

“I think this group is well-traveled,” said head coach Sergio Delgado. “I think their attitude is very different than other groups we’ve had and the skill level that they have is just amazing.”
The Highlanders captured a Regional Semifinal win in 2017 against Dumas, but eventually lost in the Regional Finals a day later to Wichita Falls.
This year’s group of Highlanders is very different than the group that made a deep playoff run in 2017, not to mention their goals are set much higher. Bel Air is happy to be one of 16 teams left standing, but they want to win it all.
“It really means a lot,” said sophomore midfielder Yahir Alcantar. “It shows on the field that we’ve been practicing very hard. We have one goal and that’s to win state.”
Bel Air will play Burleson on Friday at Wichita Falls Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. MDT.
