George HW Bush

El Pasoans are expressing their sympathy to the Bush family after the death of president George H. W. Bush.

The El Paso County Republican Party is inviting anyone who wants to sign condolences to stop by their office at 120 Paragon Lane, Suite 220.

The Executive Director Bob Pena said it doesn’t matter whether you’re a Republican, Democrat or Independent. Anyone can sign a book the party is putting together.

It will be sent to the Bush family at the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.

It’s not just in El Paso that people are paying this tribute.

“This is a beautiful system that is done all over the world. In Embassies across the world, people are going into embassies and signing condolences books,” said Pena.

The party will also be presenting a resolution in honor of President George H. W. Bush this week at city council and county commissioner’s court meetings. The resolution asks for citizens to remember his life and encourages locals to dedicate themselves to volunteerism.

You have until Wednesday evening to sign the book. Here are the days and hour:

  • Monday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday  9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The office is located at 120 Paragon Lane, Suite 220, El Paso, Texas  79912.

The local GOP headquarters will also provide a room for anyone who wants to watch the funeral services on Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
