Viva! El Paso has been one of El Paso’s most continuous favorites since 1978, and now the show looks to build and grow a new audience with their 42nd season which kicks off June 14, 2019.
The story of 400 years of El Paso history will be filled with familiar favorites and some new touches, including upgraded sets, choreography and music. The 2019 season will also feature pre-show entertainment for the first time in the show’s history.
Viva’s updated script is written by Tony Award-winner Marty Martin, featuring songs by El Paso music icon Jim Ward, Gabriel Gonzalez, and music director Cody Ritchey. Burges High School theater director Keith W. Townsend returns for his fourth year as artistic director.
The colorful and beloved El Paso celebration runs June 14 through July 27 for 14 performances at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at the beautiful McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre. The June 29 and July 19-20 shows will be performed in Spanish.
Tickets for opening weekend are $10, regularly priced tickets are $24 for adults and $16 for children ages 2-12, seniors 65 and older and military with a valid ID.
Viva! El Paso tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, May 13. Tickets may be purchased at ticketmaster.com and the Plaza Theater Box Office. The show is produced in partnership between the El Paso Community Foundation and El Paso Live.
