An El Paso woman could spend the rest of her life in prison for the murder of an Afghanistan war veteran  last year.

On Friday, a jury convicted Stephanie Fernandez, 28, for her role in killing Tyler Kaden Croke, 23, on May 7, 2017 in an apartment located at 1501 Lomaland.

Police say Fernandez and four others — Tristan Chilton, 21, Brandon Olsen, 27, Zachary Johnston, 20, and Adam Acosta, 19 — allegedly worked together to stab Croke to death.

According to the El Paso Times, the five suspects reportedly tried to rob Croke’s apartment using “military tactics” before killing him.

In addition to capital murder, Fernandez was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, and four outstanding traffic warrants.

The four other defendants also face capital murder charges, but have not yet been to trial.
