That’s a wrap from the Sun Bowl. Southern Miss tops UTEP 39-7 to become bowl eligible. The Miners close out 2018 1-11 and it’s on to the recruiting trail for head coach Dana Dimel and his staff. #USMvsUTEP #KTSM9Sports— Andy Morgan (@AndyMorganTV) November 24, 2018
The Miners tell to 1-11 on the year, with their sole victory over Rice on November 3.
Southern Miss went up 16-0 in the first quarter, and led the Miners 16-3 at the half.
UTEP receiver Erik Brown scored the team’s only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss, Head Coach Dana Dimel says the Miners are still in a better position moving forward compared to this time last year.
“Obviously, it’s a development process for us. We had our ups and downs this year,” Dimel said. “We showed some stretches where we played really good football. Even when we were beat up and battered, we played some really good football.”
UTEP head coach Dana Dimel wanted to win more games this season, but the Miners are in a much better position moving forward than this time last year.
