Crews will be closing interstate 10 in both directions for 27 hours this weekend to finish up repairs at downtown.
The closure will be for the completion of the utility bridge that was damaged in last year’s fiery crash.
You might remember that fiery crash that shut down I-10 for more than a day in July.
The interstate will be closed in both directions starting Sunday at 3 AM. It’s set to reopen Monday at 6 AM.
You’ll want to avoid the area. Crews will be installing a water line and chain link fence.
This is the last thing that has to be done on this utility bridge since it was damaged in the fiery semi truck crash.
“That utility bridge carried electrical lines, water lines, telecommunications, and all the other have been repaired. It’s just now the water company has contracted to get this done,” said Jennifer Wright, a TXDOT Spokesperson.
Drivers who head West will have to exit at Mesa while cars headed East will have to exit at the Downtown exit.
The total cost of repairs on the utility bridge will be more than two million dollars. TXDOT said it will be up to the truck driver’s insurance company to pay.
