Top of the class: Andress twins earn full-ride scholarships to Notre Dame

Twin brothers Darian and Dominique Smith get it done on the field and in the classroom at Andress High School.

The brothers star on the football and baseball fields for the Golden Eagles, and are number 1 and 2 in their class academically, both possessing GPAs above a 4.0.

Their hard work earned them both full-ride academic scholarships to the University of Notre Dame this week.

“I’m just so proud of him and myself that we were able to overcome all these obstacles and get a full-ride scholarship,” said Darian Smith.

The twins’ mother passed away when they were just 12 years old, and they’ve worked so hard academically and athletically to honor her memory.

“She was very big on us for grades, making sure we put that before athletics so that’s something that’s always been in the back of our mind and made us today who we are,” said Dominique Smith.

The brothers have always been inseparable, and that will continue next year in South Bend.

“Knowing all the background of Notre Dame and saying that I get to experience that with one of my closest friends is very appealing to me,” Dominique said.
