Teen charged with lying to police about stolen cheerleading uniforms

El Paso Police have charged an 18-year-old student with filing a false burglary report saying that cheerleading uniforms had been stolen from her home.

Gina Nicole Torrijos, 18, reported that someone had broken into her home in the 1700 block of Shawna Laurine Ct. in Far East El Paso early April 15, 2017. During their investigation, police determined that Torrijos had lied about the stolen cheer uniforms that had been taking during the alleged burglary.

Investigators secured a warrant for Torrijo’s arrest and took her into custody on Friday, May 5th for False Report to Peace Officer. She was booked on a $5,000 bond and released the same day.

Her social media profiles indicate that she attends Riverside High School, but officials with the Ysleta ISD will only confirm she is a student within the district.
