Studio 9 features resident movie critic, Felipa Solis, this week, as we do dinner and a movie.
The Theme is “Classic Movie- Classic Literature- Classic Music- Classic Tapa!
We feature the classic film, “The Sun Also Rises,” by Ernest Hemingway about his years in the 1920’s in Spain. The film is amazing, and very old school and stars Ava Gardner, Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power. Very old school.. and very fabulous says Felipa. It’s a must watch for everyone!
The interesting Musical Fun Fact is that that multiple Grammy Award win for El Paso Pro-Musica Artistic Director, Zuill Bailey, was for the composition written for him called, “Tales of Hemingway,” by new composer Michael Daugherty. The Final Movement of the Concerto is based on the Hemingway Classic, “The Sun Also Rises” ( Everything has an El Paso Connection)
Felipa is making a Spanish Tapa to go with the Spanish Flair of the Story…
Gambas con Chorizo
- 1/2 lb Shrimp- Deveined
- Olive Oil
- Spanish Chorizo
Directions: Place the Chorizo in the pan, over medium heat, and sear it just enough. Remove from the pan, and then add one tablespoon of olive oil and the shrimp and garlic. Sautee until the shrimp turns pink and then add the chorizo. Serve with thick crusty bread, and perfect with a Glass of Sangria.
