Socorro ISD hosts annual ‘Battle of the Bluebonnets’ reading competition

Students from Socorro ISD participated in the district’s annual Battle of the Bluebonnets reading competition Friday.

The third annual competition brings together 3rd through 5th graders to answer trivia-style questions about Texas Bluebonnet Award books.

The first place team receives medals to display at their school until the next competition, while second and third place competitors receive medals and certificates.

“There’s so many ways that books can bring us together,” SISD Library Services Coordinator Marcy Sparks tells KTSM, “if we all have read the same book then we automatically have something that we can share and talk about whether we agree or disagree.”
