The San Elizario boys soccer team is continuing to celebrate its second-straight state title in Georgetown, Texas last week.
The team held a celebratory pep rally on Friday.
In addition to the state titles, the team is also celebrating its players’ academic achievements. According to Coach Max Sappenfield, four of the boys were at the top of their classes this semester.
“We need to be excellent away from the soccer field, excellent in all areas of our life will translate on the soccer field,” Sappenfield said. “The kids I have now are students and they are students at like the highest level.”
The coach adds that getting to share the team’s achievements with the community is one of the best parts.
“These are only cool things because people share in the joy of these accomplishments and we’re very proud,” he said.
San Elizario hopes to come back just as strong next season.
