President Trump coming to El Paso next week

Politics

President Donald Trump will make a campaign visit to El Paso on Feb. 11, his campaign website said.

The website is calling the visit a “MAGA Rally” and it will be at 7 p.m. at the El Paso County Coliseum.

Tickets are limited to two people per registrant. Registration is open at the campaign website

The visit will be less than a week after the president claimed that El Paso used to be one of the most dangerous cities in the country until the border fence was built. That claim, which he originally said on Friday and repeated Tuesday during the State of the Union address is false, according to FBI data analyzed by KTSM.

Trump campaign officials said in a prepared statement that Trump will continue to tout that the border barrier makes El Paso safe.

“As the President continues his fight to secure our border, there’s no better place to demonstrate that walls work than in El Paso,” said Michael Glassner, Chief Operating Officer of the campaign. “President Trump looks forward to visiting with the patriots of Texas who are on the front lines of the struggle against open border Democrats who allow drugs, crime, and sex trafficking all along our border every day.”

This is a developing story.
