El Paso High celebrates alumni O’Rourke’s Presidential bid

The Principal of El Paso High School says the announcement of one of their own running for President has been a cause for celebration at their school.

KTSM visited O’Rourke’s old stomping grounds where students and faculty say they’ve taken pride in O’Rourke’s accomplishments since he was a Congressman.

Principal Mark Paz says O’Rourke walked the halls of the Lady on the Hill as a student in 1988. Photos of O’Rourke can still be found around the school from when he was on the basketball team.

“For him to be able to potentially be in a top seat in Washington speaks volumes for the type of people we have in El Paso and what our students can become,” Paz said.

We’re told Beto continues to visit The Lady on the Hill often and even attends sporting events. His three children are currently in the El Paso High School feeder pattern.
