El Paso Police identified the motorcyclist killed early Friday morning in the Segundo Barrio as 32-year-old Marco Artalejo of El Paso.
According to police, Artalejo was riding a 2009 purple Yamaha Motorcycle eastbound on Cesar Chavez around 2:20 a.m. Friday morning at a high rate of speed when he allegedly lost control and struck a concrete barrier near Park St.
He was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigators were on the scene through the overnight hours and re-opened the Border Highway just before 9 a.m. Friday morning.
Artalejo’s death marks the 21st traffic related death of 2017 compared with 30 at this time last year.
