The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation invites all breast cancer survivors to shop at a pop-up event on Tuesday as part of the Pink Bra Boutique.
“We feel that the need is very prevalent right now,” said Cindi Martinez, Program Coordinator, for the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation. “Not only is it October, breast cancer awareness month, but we want to introduce and educate women about mastectomy wear.”
The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation through the Four Seasons Program provides mastectomy bras and prosthetics to woman who are in need of these products. Martinez says women often come to the office and don’t know what their options are.
“They wear regular bras. They don’t know that mastectomy bras have pockets inside for the prosthetics. So this is really important,” Martinez said.
The mastectomy clothing options are provided by Amoena, the premier distributor of mastectomy products. The $20 admission fee includes one free mastectomy bra from the selection. The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation has scholarships available by request.
