UPDATE: Woman armed with gun shot by officer at El Paso Health and Human Services building

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The latest on the subject barricaded in the El Paso Health and Human Services building.

UPDATE (5 p.m.): The woman shot by an officer during a standoff at the El Paso Health and Human Services building has died, her husband said.

The husband told KTSM she was shot through the chest.

Police have not identified the woman or given new details about the standoff in the building.

UPDATE: The El Paso Police Department has reported that the woman has been shot by an officer and is being transported to University Medical Center.

Police sent out the following alert just after 3:30 p.m.: “Shots fired, officer involved shooting. Subject is down has been transported to UMC.”

ORIGINAL: A woman with a gun has barricaded herself inside the El Paso Health and Human Services building in South Central El Paso.

The person is inside the building, located at 5150 El Paso Drive. Police sent an alert out just before 11 a.m.

The El Paso Police Department’s SWAT team is on the scene.

“The location has been cleared of staff, and law enforcement is involved. No shots have been fired,” according to the regional Health and Human Services offices.

The City of El Paso’s Department of Health, which is nearby, is closed.
