UPDATE: 42-year-old Jared Scott Reza was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning when he was crossing Mesa Street near Kern Drive using a place that was not designated as a crosswalk.

The driver initially fled the scene but about an hour later, 23-year-old Johan Rikardo Jaime returned to the scene and was placed under arrest. Jaime was booked into the El Paso County jail and charged with accident involving death under a $16,000 bond.

ORIGINAL: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Police are reporting a traffic fatality after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at Mesa and Kern in West El Paso. According to police, the vehicle fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian.
