Actions speak louder than words and that’s especially true for a group of kids who did something special for a custodian at their school.

A kindergarten class in Tullahoma, Tennessee surprised their favorite custodian by learning how to sign the “Happy Birthday” song for him this week.

The custodian, Mr. James, is deaf and just turned 60.

The video comes from Hickerson Elementary School.

He sometimes teaches sign language, and encourages the kids to be kind to one another.

As you can see, Mr. James was absolutely delighted by the kids signing the song for him.

Mr. James said it completely “touched his heart.”

Mr. James has worked for the school for 15 years and the school’s principal says he’s a great role model for the students.
