Authorities say a 14-year-old shot last week in Memphis by an 11-year-old boy has died.

Memphis police said Sunday charges against the 11-year-old boy now include first-degree murder.

Officers responded around 11 p.m. on March 13 to a report of a shooting on Ardmore Street where a 14-year-old and a 34-year-old were found with gunshot wounds.

The 11-year-old was also charged with attempted first-degree murder. Police are not releasing his identity.

The 14-year-old was identified as David Vongphachanh.

His grandmother told WKRN’s sister station WATN the suspect shot her grandson over $40, a cell phone and an Xbox. She said his father was shot while walking in on the crime.

The father is in critical but stable condition.

It could be months before a juvenile court judge decides whether the 11-year-old will be tried as a juvenile or as an adult. He is awaiting a hearing in Shelby County Juvenile Court.
