The discovery of a man wrapped in a blanket in Downtown Juarez Sunday marked the 145th murder in April, making it the deadliest month in Juarez since 2011.
The man’s body was found inside an abandoned house behind a school on Calle Pablo L. Sidar and Mariano Escobar by neighbors.
Witnesses told Municipal Police that two men took the body out of a white vehicle and left it behind the house before fleeing the scene.
As KTSM previously reported, the number of murders in Juarez peaked in 2010 when the city had more than 3,500 murders. By 2011, the rates dropped to a little over 2,000 before significantly declining in later years. In late 2018, the murder rates began to climb again in Juarez.
