Mugshot of man suspected of killing Border Patrol agent released

El Paso Police released the mugshot for 39-year-old Hisaias Justo Lopez, who is accused of stabbing and killing off-duty Border Patrol Agent Isaac Morales in the parking lot of the Union Drafthouse bar on May 24.

According to court documents, Morales, his wife and another couple were leaving the bar when they encountered Lopez in the parking lot. Witnesses report that Lopez, who was also walking to his car got into an argument when Lopez allegedly hit Morales’ wife with a car door.

When Morales confronted him, Lopez stabbed him in the eye causing critical injuries to his brain. Morales was taken to Las Palmas where he died several days later as a result of his injuries.

Witnesses to the stabbing chased Lopez down in the parking lot and held him until EPPD arrived. Lopez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center where he has been charged with murder. His bond has been set at $2,000,000.
