UPDATE: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – An El Paso motorcycle police officer was hurt after being involved in a crash with a marked patrol car Monday afternoon, April 10, El Paso Police reported.

The officer’s injuries were originally described as minor. Now officials say he was taken to the hospital with several injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The crash happened about 1:20 p.m. along the 3800 block of Montana in East El Paso.

At the time of the crash, both the motorcycle officer and the patrol officer were responding to assist another motorcycle officer who was on an unrelated call and needed assistance.

Both units were responding with lights and sirens going, police officials say.

According to the preliminary investigation,  the marked patrol car entered the intersection without it being completely clear and entered in front of the path of the motorcycle officer.

The motorcycle officer was ejected from the bike.

Officials identified the motorcycle officer as a six-year veteran and the patrol officer as a 29-year veteran.
