RENO, NV (KRQE) – After a night of glitz and glam, Miss North Carolina walked away with the Miss USA Pageant and New Mexico’s own Alejandra Gonzalez was first runner up. The 26-year-old is from Las Cruces.
Gonzales’ parents immigrated to the U.S. from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, making her a first-generation American, something she spoke about passionately. According to her official Miss USA profile, Gonzalez has her Master’s degree in Accounting and teaches students about the need for financial literacy.
Chelsie Kryst of Charlotte, North Carolina won the title of Miss USA. The pageant took place Thursday night at the Grand Theatre in the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada.
