Maj. Gen. Matlock Assumes Command of 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss

Fort Bliss and the 1st Armored Division have a new commanding general.

Major General Robert “Pat” White relinquished command Thursday morning to Major General Patrick E. Matlock. The Change of Command ceremony took place at Noel Field on Fort Bliss.

Under the authority of Lt. Gen. Laura Richardson, the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) deputy commanding general, Matlock received the 1AD flag from White.

MG Matlock is a 1988 graduate of the United States Military Academy.  Most recently, he served as the Director of Training, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, United States Army.  He holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.
