Fort Bliss soldier surprised with new truck after his was stolen and burned in Florida

Two truck accessory shops collaborated to thank a Fort Bliss soldier for his service after he faced an unfortunate loss last year.

U.S. Army Cpl. James Wesley Trent always wanted a truck, but after he had just bought the one he wanted, it was stolen a few days later in Florida while he was visiting family.

As KTSM previously reported, a Florida truck parts company, Tuff Truck Parts heard of this incident and decided to team up with local shop 4 Wheel Parts in El Paso to give the soldier a generous surprise.

“I was very saddened from what I saw happened with his truck being stolen and basically burned to the ground and stripped of all parts,” Tuff Trucks Parts CEO Phil Gottes said.

On Saturday the two truck parts companies unveiled the brand new customized truck at 4 Wheel Parts  to Trent and his fellow friends and Fort Bliss soldiers.

“It’s a feeling I can’t really comprehend yet,” Trent said when he saw his new truck.

His former truck was a gold Ford F-250 and the companies surprised him with a lifted silver Ford F-250, customuzed with a new bumper, large rims and an alarm system. With the help of sponsors, Tuff Truck Parts raised close to $30,000 for the project.

“It’s an honor that we’re able to, you know, instead of Wesley telling us thank you, we’re reaching out to him and letting him know thanks for his service,” 4 Wheel Parts associate Ralph Villa said.

The Florida based company owner said that while Fort Bliss may be hundreds of miles and a few states away, the distance was nothing compared to helping a U.S. soldier in a time of need.

“I basically reached out to all our brands and our sponsors and said let’s put something together, lets build this gentleman a truck, it’s the least we could do for him protecting our country,” Gottes said.

The sponsorship came from Florida and the truck was assembled in El Paso to make it more convenient for Trent since he is stationed in Fort Bliss.

“By doing it with 4 Wheel Parts, partnering up with them, having their great mechanics and staff here to help us build this truck, it’s exactly what we had to do to make it convienient for the soldier and to make it happen here in El Paso,” Gottes said.

4 Wheel parts said it was an honor for them to team up and help the Fort Bliss community.

“Fort Bliss, being that it’s a staple in the community, it was a great opportunity to be part of something for a good cause,” Villa said.

Trent said he was too excited to decide where he wants to take his new truck for it’s first spin but in the meantime he took plenty of pictures with it and admired it with his friends.

“Tuff Truck Parts are unbeatable, I mean they flew all they way from Florida and helped build this truck for me,” Trent said.
