Juarez restaurant hiring Cuban migrants, serving Cuban foods

Juarez

With more and more people from Cuba staying in Juarez as they wait to seek asylum in the U.S., one Mexican restaurant is giving them work.

El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Juarez is hiring Cuban migrants and has even changed its name to “Little Havana.”

The restaurant is also serving traditional Cuban foods.

Some migrants say they’re choosing to come to Juarez because it’s safer than other cities along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Chihuahua officials say they do not yet know the exact number of people from Cuba staying in Juarez.
