Three bodies were discovered in a burning bus in the northeast part of Juarez just after midnight Tuesday morning.
The initial call was for a city bus on fire. According to investigators, three bodies were later found together inside the bus after firefighters were able to put the flames out. Authorities say the driver of the bus is missing and the investigation into the deaths continue.
Meanwhile, Juarez Police say they found a body inside the trunk of a car in the east side of the city. Investigators say the discovery was made Tuesday morning after neighbors called the police to report a suspicious car parked in the area. The body has yet to be identified.
The number of murder victims in the first seven days in Juarez has soared to 53, an average of nearly 8 murders a day. There were 150 murders in the month of April, making it the deadliest month in the city since 2011.
According to data from the Chihuahua State Police, there have been a total of 523 murders in Juarez this year.
