Is UTEP basketball star Evan Gilyard injured?

We are still a little over a month away from tipping off a new season and sophomore guard Evan Gilyard is supposed to have a bigger role on this year’s Miners team. Or will he?

Check out some of these photos from practice:

These practices are currently closed to the media, so no word yet from the coaching staff, but it looks like Gilyard, there on the right, is in a walking boot with crutches as well.

A source tells KTSM this is all just precautionary and they do not expect Gilyard to miss any time.

We’ll see.

The miners open the season Nov. 6 at home against UT-Permian Basin.
