Forbes magazine ranks El Paso No. 1 in cost of living

Forbes Magazine recently listed El Paso as the city with the lowest cost of living.

The ranking was made based on median income, cost of necessities, and income needed to live comfortably.

According to a news release, El Paso’s median income is $43,322, compared to the national average of $57,617.

The income needed to live comfortably in El Paso is $50,150 and the cost of necessities is $25,075.

Some people who just moved to El Paso agree with the study saying they’re getting more for their money.

“Its nicer here than it is down there. Our house cost the same but here it is bigger and nicer,” said Jennifer Chitwood, who lives in East El Paso.

“Everyone out here is nice. Cheaper. I decided to move out here just because,” said Alex Albavera, who lives in East El Paso.

“El Paso is one of the best cities to live in,” City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said. Our low cost of living, excellent workforce, and ranking as one of the safest cities means a superior quality of place for our residents.”

Other cities that made the list include Detroit, Albuquerque, and Tucson. To view the full report, click HERE.
