While the Borderland area saw beautiful weather for the first day of April, that will all change once we make it into midweek.
A low-pressure system is moving in our direction, and as it moves in closer to our area, winds will really begin to strengthen.
Expect breezy conditions Tuesday, with up to 20 mph winds and windy conditions Wednesday, with 30 mph winds.
We may see a Wind Advisory issued for Wednesday, but because of how dry we will continue to be this week, a Fire Weather Watch has already been issued for Wednesday afternoon.
A Fire Weather Watch is issued when winds are above 25 mph and relative humidity is low. In these conditions, whatever fire may develop, it can and will spread quite quickly, which is why the public is highly discouraged from outdoor burning.
We are tracking a fast-moving storm system moving through our area Friday and Saturday. This one will come in too fast, it won’t allow us the opportunity to see chances for rain, but I went ahead and included a slight chance for Friday into Saturday.
Next week, we expect to really heat up above average, nearing the 90° mark. Spring has definitely sprung.
