Fire burns up to 20 acres of Ruidoso forest

A spokesperson for the Village of Ruidoso confirms a fire is burning in the Homestead Acres area, which is near the lower Eagle Creek Canyon. 

The fire, which started on private land around 2:30 p.m., is estimated at about 15-20 acres. 

There are no evacuations reported at the moment. 

According to forest officials, 45 mph winds are pushing the fire to the west towards the Eagle Creek subdivision. 

The cause of the fire remains unknown. 

Crews from Ruidoso Fire, Lincoln County Emergency Services, Bonita Fire, Nogal Fire and Glencoe Fire are responding.
