UT Board of Regents to take action on Wilson Tuesday

Education

The 21-day waiting period before the UT Board of Regents is allowed to make a formal vote on their nomination for UTEP’s next President is almost over.

A special meeting will be held on Tuesday via telephone conference in Austin. The UT Board is expected to discuss and take action regarding the appointment of former Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson. She is the sole finalist for the position which will replace outgoing UTEP President Diana Natalicio.

Wilson has been met with opposition for her anti-LGBTQ voting record while serving in Congress as a Representative from New Mexico.

Texas Senator Jose Rodriguez and Texas State Representative Mary Gonzalez have both issued statements against Wilson’s appointment as President of the university.
