Trent Hatch has resigned as EPISD’s Board President, the district announced Saturday.
According to a news release, Hatch vacated the position because he no longer lives within the geographic district he represents on the board.
Officials say Bob Geske, a trustee who had previously served as vice president, will lead the board until new officers are selected on May 4.
According to the district, Hatch did not plan to seek re-election. Three people are currently vying for the position.
Hatch was first elected to the board in 2015. During his tenure, the district improved academic ratings and implemented new and innovative teaching and learning programs, according to the release.
“Mr. Hatch has been a true leader in helping us reach unprecedented levels of educational attainment,” Superintendent Juan Cabrera said. “On behalf of the entire district, its students and employees, I wish to thank him for his years of service and dedication.”
