Doña Ana County Commissioners are scheduled to discuss County Manager Julia Brown’s contract during Tuesday’s meeting.

In February, commissioners voted against taking action on Brown’s contract after a 3-2 vote.

Commissioners Ben Rawson, Billy Garrett and John Vazquez voted to remove the item.

However, according to online records, Vasquez placed Brown’s contract on the April 25 agenda.

Previously, County Commission Chairwoman Isabella Solis and Commissioner Ramon Gonzalez were in favor of taking action on Brown’s contract.

If commissioners vote to end Brown’s contract, it will cost the county and taxpayers $71,000 because of a severance clause in her contract.

According to the agenda, commissioners will discuss the matter in closed session then take action, if appropriate, in open session.

Last year, county commissioners approved giving Brown a three-year extension and the $71,000 severance package.

Since then, three new county commissioners have taken office, including Solis, Gonzalez and Vasquez..

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. at the Doña Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd. in Las Cruces.
