Friday starting at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. dancers from the NMSU Dance Department will be performing along Mian Street in Las Cruces.
NMSU dance student Hannah O’Hara planned the event and helped choreograph the dance routines as a part of a class project.
However, instead of performing inside a studio or dance hall she decided to take it to the streets. Making it so spectators could feel more included.
The dancers will be showing off the different styles of dancing outside of the usual space. Also making it easier for the community to witness and be involved in art.
The types of dancing will include Flamenco, Modern, Ballroom and Hip Hop. The dances will take place all Main Street Las Cruces. At the same time, there will be an art show in Downtown so spectators can enjoy art in both forms.
Here’s a list of the locations on Main Street where the dances will be spread throughout.
1. Dwell Yoga
2. Coas Bookstore
3. Rosie’s Cafe Fountain Courtyard
4. Southwest Environmental Center
5. Rio Grande Theatre
6. Plaza de Las Cruces Stage
This event is free to the public and a diverse, cultural, and colorful experience for all.
